By: Madhu Bhatia In the middle of the summer when your skin and hair have taken a beating from the sunlight, staying outdoors and have your skin looking dry or tired, it’s time to pamper yourself with a rejuvenating, soothing and nourishing treat; beauty oils.
During summer, we are exposed to many elements that can remove or reduce the amount of natural oils of our bodies. Besides eating a healthy diet, these thick liquids can be included in your beauty regime for healthier skin and hair. We’re here to introduce some of these oils you can easily find in your house, right in your kitchen. Castor Oil: This oil is a boon when it comes to treating sunburns, acne, warts, and dry skin. Castor oil penetrates deep into the skin and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which help in removing dry patches and hydrating the skin. Besides these benefits, it is good for fading scars and stretch marks as it goes deep into the scar tissues and plumps it while promoting the growth of healthy tissue. “Castor oil is known best for stimulating hair growth and treating dry hair. It can be rubbed on the eyebrows and eyelashes to make them thicker”, says Chanchal Wadhwa, a beautician at Sunflower Beauty Salon in Ashok Nagar. Regular hair massage will work wonders for hair growth. Argan Oil: This oil is packed with fatty acid and Vitamin E. It moisturizes, hydrates and softens the skin. It is known for making hair soft, silky and shiny. Used by many celebrities including Miranda Kerr, it is the ideal conditioner to treat split ends and tame frizzy hair. It can also be used for moisturizing nails, and other body parts. Coconut Oil: Having antibacterial qualities, the oil is rich in protein, vitamin E and fatty acids, which make it great for moisturizing skin and hair. It contains lauric acid, which can kill bacteria, viruses and fungus, keeping infections at bay. “It is a great natural sunscreen as it blocks about 20% of the sun’s ultraviolet rays. It can improve moisture and lipid content of the skin, making it soft and smooth”, says Dr. S.N. Yadav, a city-based dermatologist. Olive Oil: “This oil is loaded with vitamin A, vitamin E and antioxidants. Plus, it has a healthy natural dose of lactic acid, which gently exfoliates your skin and removes dead cells”, says Dr. Yadav. It moisturizes your skin, treats acne and pimple fast, taming frizzy hair and fading scars. In addition, it helps reduce ageing and wrinkles. Apart from these, one can also add oils like Jasmine oil, jojoba oil to their beauty regime. “Jasmine oil and tea tree oil do wonders for acne and nourishing the skin”, says Chanchal Wadhwa.

Well, this is quite shocking. But according to research, guy’s apartment are cleaner than girl’s apartment. We all know the stereotypes, guys do manly things like wear the same boxers for a week, never change their socks and certainly can't use the washing machine. Whereas, girls on the other hand are portrayed as clean freaks. But, is that so in student world? Well, 80% of guys admitted that they change their bed sheets at least once a month, with more than 20% washing them once a week. However, majority of women, only clean them on average every two months. Guys also have higher expectations of cleanliness. This might take some time for girls to accept the fact but truth remains truth. Girls, work hard until next time. |
