Before talking about about which mattress should you be using, let us talk about the side effects of using wrong mattress. The short term effect can be improper sleep but long term effects can take quite longer to develop. From a less effective immune system to weight issues. It can cause a wide range of negative health effects. Therefore, mattress plays an important role in helping you stay asleep. A mattress that’s uncomfortable can prevent you from getting the quality sleep you need. Think twice before buying a firm mattress, as some research has shown that the best mattress for low back pain is a medium firm mattress. There is a difference between firm feel and firm support. You want comfortable feel with a firm support. Innerspring mattresses are by far the most widely used. They support you with coil springs, and each coil is individually enclosed. On top of the coils are a wide variety of materials added for comfort, from pillow to latex to memory foam. It is totally a matter of preference. Just like you go for test driver before buying a new car, test the mattress as well. Just lie down on it for 10 to 15 mins, if it feels comfortable, but it or else leave it. At the end, it is all about comfort. Comfort comes first.

By: Madhu Bhatia One of the most luxurious fabrics, silk is known for its lustrous feel and sheen look. It is suitable for all weathers as it offers warmth and coziness in winters and is comfortably cool in summers. The fabric is also very light and strong, probably that’s why silk is crowned the ‘queen of fabrics’!
Silk has always been a part of Indian wear, whether it’s sarees, salwar kameez, kurtas and even men's sherwanis. Beautifully embroidered and embellished pieces are a favorite amongst Indians, be it for bridal wear, festive outfits or just something to wear on a special occasion! Silk is easy to carry even with heavy embroideries and embellishments because of its lightweight. Designers have come up with beautiful chic cuts, lace work, motifs, embroideries on these suits and kurtis. Special attention is being paid on the necklines and the back of the kurtas and suits this season! If you are not a fan of heavy work, simple kurtis with stylish cuts, fresh neckline styles can also be worn on occasions with accessories that stand out like heavy earrings. A royal fabric where you don’t have to compromise with the comfort, silk can be a perfect fit for this festive and wedding season! Just be sure to invest in good quality silk as there is nothing royal about cheap silk fabric that has a shiny look and is not soft to touch. Always personalize your looks to make it more like you. By: Madhu Bhatia For the past few seasons, bold and busy prints have ruled the runways and one of those is the ancient Aztec and tribal print. At one time, boho used to be the signature style of these prints but now they have come to the forefront of fashion and become a part of preppy, classy, casual styles as well. This tropical print can make you look instantly trendy and also has that dreamy feel of the far-off ancient lands! Go for an edgy look with daring colors and prints. A showstopping skater or shift Aztec dress with coordinating shoes and very minimal accessories is ideal for a party look. You can also tone down the print and make it wearable for every day with an Aztec top, shrug, tote bags, scarves, palazzos. Fall or summer, Aztec takes care of it all! A cute Aztec beanie, woolen shrug, leggings are great for fall.
Avoid a fashion faux pas by going for colors that complement your skin tone and teaming the print with neutrals or solid colors. Since the print is quite eye-catching, keep the accessories muted and neutral. Fan of monotones? Go with black and white Aztec prints! They are no less beautiful! By: Madhu Bhatia From high necks to flared jeans to suede skirts, 2015 has witnessed many of the 70s-90s trends come back. And one of them is the 70s power print paisleys. The teardrop shaped motif has found its way on every silhouette from shorts and trousers to maxi dresses and cozy jackets. This bohemian print can fabulously add color and contrast to your outfit!
Pyjama pants/joggers are the coolest way to wear paisley. For a super relaxed look, team with a silk shirt, a sweater or t-shirt to look effortlessly chic! The choices are endless as the print simply fits to every clothing item, literally every item. To get the 70s uptown look, wear fitted crop top with paisley print palazzos or for a fun outfit, put on a paisley jumpsuit/playsuit (crop top and skirt in the same print)! If bold prints are not your thing, just wear a paisley scarf or bag complimenting your outfit! Paisley might be trending in the west right now but Indians have always been its fan. The fact that it is trending right now and is so Indian is all the more reason for you to wear the trend! Get a casual look by wearing a subtle paisley print or embroidered paisley kurti with leggings or palazzos! Play around with the color palette and compliment your paisley piece with a solid bright colored item. Don’t combine this print with other patterns! By: Madhu Bhatia A beautiful pair of shoes can lift up any dull outfit and give you oodles of confidence instantly. Maybe that’s why Coco Chanel said ‘A woman with good shoes is never ugly!’. When it comes to finding the right pair of shoes for that pretty Indian outfit, we always end up wearing our nude heels, right? But this Diwali, pay a little extra attention to pick out the perfect pair of shoes and get your glam game on.
Peep-toes, pumps, strappy heels, kitten heels, stilettos work like magic with Indian attires. You can choose from a variety of heels and flats available like embellished, beaded, brocade, sequined, and can also go for shoes with metal detailing. But, if there is one pair of heels that would go with any outfit, it has got to be the very popular gold heels! Go for embellished footwear if your outfit is not very bling-bling to create a balanced ensemble. Opt for new trends like brocade heels, heels with embellishments on its back and heel, embroidered heels (they go very well with kurtis and suits!) or beauties that look like they have been dipped in glitter! Although, never wear too bright or too shiny shoes. For those of you who care for comfort than anything else, go for jootis or flats! By: Madhu Bhatia If there is one print that literally any woman can pull off, it is the animal print. Although everyone is well aware of leopard and snakeskin prints, there are A LOT of other prints like zebra prints, cheetah print, giraffe print that are just as beautiful. Animal prints are like neutrals—they’re made up of brown, beige, and black, after all. It’s amazing how even a small item in these fierce prints can instantly transform your outfit and make you look bold and sexy!
They are seasonless and you can style them with almost anything but that being said, there are many bad ways to wear the print too. If it’s your first time wearing it, always go for statement accessories like an animal print clutch, bag, scarf, watch, belt or even footwear. Make sure to keep the rest of your outfit neutral! Deeper and earthy shades like maroon, bottle green work well with the print apart from blacks and whites! Play it safe by wearing only one clothing piece in that print such as an animal print shirt with black jeans and heels or a skirt/pair of shorts with a solid color top. This year, colourful animal prints have come up and they are all the more chic! Take a walk on the wild side! And well, ‘No animals were harmed in its making’! By: Madhu Bhatia Maths probably wasn’t a favorite for most of us during school but what if we tell you a little geometric secret that will help you ace the fashion exam? Catch up with the latest fashion fad making its way around in the couture world: Geometric prints! Innovative and colorful designs with simple lines and shapes that are perfect to jazz up your personal style.
Add this trend to your everyday style by donning blouses, leggings/jeggings, tops, scarves in the print. Since it is such a busy print, never pair it with any other print or pattern. It will only create a lot of visual tension and is just not desirable. You can go with just about any color, shape and pattern (there are 3D patterns too)! For an edgy evening/party look, put on a geometric print skirt or dress with minimal accessories and neutral shoes. If you’re more of a minimalist, go for geometric print accessories which are just as good. Stick to solid colors, choose statement accessories like graphic/geometric print scarf, clutch, sunglasses or jewelry to complete your look. Even Indian wear has been smitten by this trend and we are seeing many designers and brands come up with kurtis, sarees and suits in the print. Have this one on your list of ‘fashion trends to try’ and make a statement! By: Madhu Bhatia Sometimes all it takes is a basic piece and a simple clothing item to build a fabulous outfit. Well, what’s more stylish and simple than the stripes! Stripes adorn every clothing item beautifully and are perfect to create a playful, chic look. Although very versatile and easy to style, stripes are tricky too.
Whether the simple black and white stripes, thick, thin, vertical, horizontal, colorful or monotone stripes, you can dress it up for a date night or dress it down for a cool, casual look. Go for stripes flatter your body. Vertical stripes are known to make people appear leaner and taller; on the other hand, horizontal stripes would make you look broader if you are a little on the heavier side. Fuller-figured women often shy away from stripes, but no need! Look for a chevron (v-shaped) stripe to call attention to the center line of your body. Another tip is to keep the size of the stripes proportional to your body frame. Petite women should go with smaller, thinner stripes whereas taller, heavier women with big and bold ones. Be it on dresses, blazers, pants, skirts, t-shirts or blouses, this print will make you stand out from the crowd! You can also pair monotone stripes with other prints like plaids and florals. Don’t forget to accessorize with jewelry or bag. Take a linear approach this season. By: Madhu Bhatia Give your feet a treat with some glitz and glam! Coveted shoes this season; embellished and studded footwear is all you need to grab some glances your way. Be it flats, heels, platforms or even sneakers, some chic stones and gems, glitter or even pearls on the whole or just a part of it can give that little something extra to your ensemble.
Channel you inner Audrey Hepburn with a pair of embellished heels and a gorgeous simple dress! If you don’t want to compromise your comfort, fret not because the trend is available in sneakers, slip ons and flats. Wear them to a date night, to a party, to college or even this Diwali. Pair it with your most loved jeans, your skirt, dress, even style them with your Indian attire like sarees and suits.
